If I told you what the weather was like in Chicago these past few weeks, you wouldn’t believe me. We’ve seen it all – humidity, rain and in typical Chicago-fashion, a few days ranging between 75 and 40 degrees. Since Mother Nature can’t make up her mind, I’ve decided that I’m not packing up my summer clothes just yet.
Basically this means that my room is a cluttered mess, full of almost all the clothes I own – ranging from heavy knits to short sleeve blouses – because who knows what the weather is going to be when I wake-up.
Of course with indecisive weather comes a silver lining – my fall wardrobe is double what it normally is every other year. Rather than sticking with the usual fall pieces, I have so much more to work with – light sweaters and leather skirts, summer blouses and flared jeans, long-sleeve dresses and wedges. The list goes on and on.
I’m so glad that these past few seasons have revived flare jeans {similar}. In my opinion, they are incredibly flattering – whether you have narrow hips, wide hips or something in-between. They are my new go-to for fall, and on a day that was 65 and sunny, they paired perfectly with this Cynthia Rowley top I snagged at Marshall’s for $20 this summer. Cynthia Rowley tops are amazing quality, so this was definitely a #MarshallsSurprise. I haven’t seen the top at Marshall’s lately, but there are different variations of it at a ton of other stores {similar & on major sale here}. In the summer, I paired this with jeans and wedges for a night out or jean shorts and Birkenstocks for a day of errands. I originally wore this outfit in the spring {and took these photos}, but in the spirit of making my wardrobe work for me, I was an outfit-repeater last week. I swapped the peach clutch for a cheetah one {similar}, grabbed a jacket before leaving the house in case it got chilly, and stuck with my favorite nude heels {on sale here!}.
I love that I am able to keep a few of my favorite summer pieces in my current fall rotation. How nice would it be if these chilly {mild!} temps lasted until February?! I don’t think my fellow Chicagoans would mind!!!
How is the weather where you’re at? I’d love to hear how you’re incorporating your favorite summer pieces into your fall wardrobe. Let me know in the comments below!
