Ever since I can remember, I’ve always loved dressing up. To me, a good outfit can make a bad day tolerable and can distract from even the worst hair days. This is true now more than ever, since I dress up every day for my 9-5 job (on a millenial’s budget). I’m notorious for waking up every morning with just enough time to get ready, which means that my hair and make-up may not always be perfect, but I always make time to pick out an outfit that gives me the confidence to take on the day.
Although my love for style and shopping goes back as far as I can remember, it wasn’t until college that I started to share this with others. The student, the budget and the wardrobe was a bi-monthly style column that I created for the newspaper at St. Ambrose University. This was the first platform I used to share my opinions on trends, give style advice and highlight my favorite looks (thanks to all my Bees who modeled for me over the years). Since my days at SAU, one thing has remained the same: I am passionate about helping others find their personal style. Fashion is always changing – so without personal style – it is easy to get lost in the shuffle and spend big bucks on pieces that may only be relevant and stylish for a few months.
For me, shopping is most fun when I find pieces that I love, and that compliment my style {aka not just buying something because it’s cheap}, for an affordable price. The goal of Gilded Gal is to curate outfits and styles that are attainable for any woman, regardless of their budget. One of the best pieces of advice I can give is that you don’t need a huge closet, full of expensive clothes to have a killer wardrobe. When it comes to clothes, I am a big believer in quality over quantity. For me, all it takes is 15 {or 20} timeless, basic pieces to curate a wardrobe that will carry through every season {& trend!}.
I’m excited & ready & happy to share my ongoing journey to personal style with all of you. I hope you follow along, and I hope I can provide you with styling tips, outfit inspiration and tricks to having gold standards on a bronze budget.
