Happy Friday, friends! Last weekend, we caught a glimpse of spring in Chicago! Then it was rainy. Then it got cold. Today feels little bit more like a brisk spring day {!!!}, so it feels like as good a day as any to share a delicious & easy cocktail recipe with you!
Moscow mules are one of my favorite cocktails – you can customize them based on the season, anything ginger is my favorite and they are so easy to make. So like any good Moscow mule, it’s pretty hard to mess this baby up. My spring-time twist on the year-round classic features lemon and berry, which is one of my favorite combinations – especially as the temps start to heat up! I can’t wait to sip this is in the backyard while basking in the sunshine {did I mention that I’m REALLY excited for summer?!}.
So, what do you need to make a lemon & blackberry {& basil!} Moscow mule? Let me break it down for ya!
- One lemon
- One package of blackberries
- Fresh basil
- Vodka
- Ginger beer {I use Crabbies}
- A cooper mug {I love this one and this one – both under $20!}
- Ice
- A muddler {this one is $5!}
In your cooper mug, add three or four blackberries {I think it would be great with strawberries, too!} and some chopped up basil – mash the two ingredients together with your muddler.
Pour a shot of vodka and the juice from half a lemon over the berries to make your base – which is basically just thick syrup. I’m not a big fan of vodka, so I prefer to use half a shot or no vodka at all, but that is completely up to you and how strong you like your drinks.
Fill your mug up with ice, and bring on the ginger beer. Stir it up; add a cute little lemon and blackberry garnish. This was delicious on a 50 degree day, but I think it’s going to be even better when it’s sunny and 75!
Cheers to the weekend, friends!
