Happy Independence Day, friends! My family and I celebrated yesterday with a laid back barbecue at our house. My parents did the grilling, and I made up a new cocktail recipe – the red, white & blue wine sparkler – because all parties are better with a themed cocktail.
Side note: How were themed parties successful in a pre-Pinterest world?!
All you need is a two liter of lemon-lime pop or club soda, a bottle of white wine {I used dry savognon blanc – $11 at my local grocery store}, blueberries and strawberries. Chances are you already have some of these ingredients at home, so it’s the perfect drink to quickly add a little Fourth of July flare to today’s party.
As an alternative, I had a second glass with club soda instead of pop {let’s call this investigative journalism}, and I preferred it to the original recipe. If you’re not a fan of sweet drinks, you would definitely enjoy this more with club soda. If you’re going the club soda route, I think Pinot Grigio would pair perfectly, too!
